Shopping Tips: Night Sits and Research

Revision of 8/9/09
-and it still reigns true

NIGHT SIT
so i do a LOT of shopping but i don't really buy many things. When it comes to shopping it's all about finding things you'll

1. wear ALL the time and you can see yourself wearing 3 years from now
2. actually like
3. is worth the amount you're paying for it
4. is a quality purchase

for me anything over $50 calls for a "night sit." A night sit is basically sleeping on a purchase and truly thinking about it for 24 hours so see if its worth it (some times more time is necessary like a week, if it is on sale think about it more quickly in case of low stock)

by night sitting you really can get a chance to think over the purchase and evaluate its worth to your wardrobe

and for most night sits, i don't end up buying the item which saves me money and i appreciate the item more

lastly make a list,

RESEARCH, RESEARCH RESEARCH,
the more research on an item you like, the more likely 99% of the time you'll get a better price, most items are sold in more than one store at varying prices (you can then get the cheaper item)

After you done your research and you're shopping in-store its a great idea to make a lists of the items you've looked up with their online prices.

By making a list you limit the items you get if you strictly follow it and you're not too tempted by other items in store
Also it'll make shopping easier, faster, and more fun becuase you'll know exactly what you're there for!

Shopping Tips: Online Shopping

so, now that i go to a college in a small town, it is almost impossible to get to a mall, so theres alwasy the next best thing...ONLINE SHOPPING!

When it comes to online shopping, it is very important to rememer these two important things..

1. Wait/Get for Free Shipping- so you can either wait for a site to offer free shipping which only happens at random, but once it comes it saves some major mulah (usually $5-$20). Additionally, if you just hold your online shopping cart for a while until you reach the site's personal free shipping price, you can save that way, (for example on fred flare if you spend at least $75, they'll give you free standard shipping)

2. Make Sure it Fits- its always a hassle to send back clothes once you've recieved it in the mail, so try your best to make sure its the right size, by checking the size charts and your own physical measurements.

Benefits of Online Shopping -
a.recieving a package in he mail, is exciting.

b.some sites (like u.o.) offer online only items

c.you're more likely to get an item online then in the store, since the in-store inventorys are at random, and the website's is right there infron of your face

d.you can look at the item and ponder over for a longer time (browsing onlines lets you view an item for days and email the image to friends, taking a picture of it inside store, staring at it for hours/days and sending it to friends is kinda werid..but online its normal)

e.you can shop in your PJs!

f.you don't have to deal with other customers, the lady at the register, and carrying the stuff car all the way on level P2 of the parking deck...

CURRENT FREE SHIPPING DEALS!!!

1. Fred Flare- fredflare.com is currently offering free shipping on all items until Jan 2010 (i believe...), using the promo coe "stay cute"

2. Urban Outfitters - urbanoutfitters.com is offering free shipping for a limited time only using promo code "shipyeah"

now go buy sale items with these shipping codes!

go

shop

i giving you permission

stop reading, go shop!

Shopping Tips: Expect the Unexpected

So i've recently been doing A LOT of shoe shopping, something i actually DREED!! but one thing i have realized from HOURS of shoe shopping, expect the unexpected. While shopping i tried on various pairs of shoes that first sight i thought were HIDDEOUS (sp?) but once i actually saw them on my feet and in the floor mirror, i actually LOVED THEM!
so remember this, when shoopping, expect the unexpected and try on that shirt that you wouold never wear or those shoes that would never work with your new purse, b/c it might just be your favorite shoe or shirt in you closet!
ADDITIONALLY!
if you want to save money...
expect the unexpected when you go to discount stores. At first glance those stores may seem lame...blah blah blah, but they can hold a treasure chest of beautiful things!
stores to Czech out:
1. Marshalls
2. DSW
3. Off Broadway Shoes
4. Target
5. TJ Max
these stores ACTUALLY carry NAME BRAND shoes/chlothes that are just a diamond in the rough. For example, i spent three hours at an Off Broadway Shoes store and got a BEAUTIFUL pair of Ralph Lauren high heels for HALF THE PRICE!!!
expect the unexpected, and never under estimate anything

Shopping TIps: Sleep On it

SUCESS!! so after 7 or more hours of shopping I FOUND SHOES, that i actually LIKE! WOW this is a day to rememeber. my main focus was just finding shoes i can wear in the snow, with socks, and that are super cute

i got three pairs of shoes

1. a larger size sperry (my 9 1/2 's did NOT fit with socks and in the winter socks are a must!)
2. a pair of suede gray boots (super cute, comfortable, and they keep my feet warm :)
3. a pair of north face snow boots (brown, fur, and lace, thats happiness)

SO ENOUGH ABOUT ME!

so i do a LOT of shopping but i don't really buy many things. When it comes to shopping it's all about finding things you'll

1. wear ALL the time
2. actually like
3. is worth the amount you're paying for it
4. is a quality purchase

and for most night sits don't end up buying the item which saves me money for an item thats cheaper and i actually like more :)

lastly make list, it is fun to go shopping on a whim and getting whatever looks cutest, but it is also a good idea to make a list of a few items that you know you want to get that way you have a direction
